The men’s team split their back-to-back matches on March 12 and 13 against Principia College and University of Rochester. The Eagles now hold a 5-7 record overall and are 2-4 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.

The men nabbed a 7-2 win over Principa on March 12. Junior Tayven Townsend came back from losing his first set 7-6 to win the next two 6-3 and 6-2 in singles. Freshman Philip Westwood also went to three sets in singles, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6.

Freshman David Garcia defeated his opponent 6-0 in both sets. Sophomore Luke Mountain and freshman Joe Tunquist rounded out the wins in singles for the Eagles.

Mountain and Westwood won their doubles match 8-2. Garcia and Turnquist also won their doubles match by the same score to give the Eagles their 7-2 victory.

The Eagles could not produce similar results the next day against the University of Rochester, as Biola fell to Rochester 3-6.

The only victories in the singles matches came from the top two spots. Townsend once again had to go into a tiebreaker to defeat his opponent 1-6, 7-6, 10-7. Westwood beat his opponent in two sets 6-2, 7-5.

Townsend and doubles partner senior Brandon Chang brought the sole win for the Eagles in doubles with an 8-6 victory.

Biola looks to bounce back from their loss against Colorado Christian University on March 19 before facing off against GSAC opponent Arizona Christian University the following day.
